If you're a fan of Akuma, this can be your best friend. It's one of the greatest ways to hit confirm into his vortex, and keep it going after words. It's because of this that the lk. tatsu to sweep combo has become a key element of Akuma's legendary vortex!
There's a catch
While falling victim to this hit confirmable, untechable knock down can be a SCARY thing, there are a few that are lucky enough to have properties that don't allow them to be subjected to the torment that can be tatsu > sweep. Back in the not so distant days of vanilla lordofultima put out a video giving a good intro to the Vortex, which in it he gives a quick run through of which character can and can not be hit by the tatsu sweep combo.

You're still not safe
If this is new to you and your character is one of the lucky twelve, there is a bit of bad news for you still. ANY CHARACTER can be hit by an [cross up] air tatsu > sweep combo!
So there it is folks, a quick run through of a terrifying part of Akuma's game. But it's ok, if you're in bed tonight, and every time you close your eyes, you see that spinning kick to a low sweep... just wake up ultra!

I just relized ive never seen an updated list for Tatsu -> Sweep... Good shit!! Going to add this to the Akuma Guide for sure. :)

@haunts haha yeah, neither had I. I put that together.
Most of it could be found on some match up notes, although no one seemed to know if it'd work on Dudley haha Definitely does not though!
I've messed around with akuma a bit, especially as of late, and find the vortex thing really interesting. If I find anything interesting with him (or any other character) I'll put up another article like this!
You missed Elf, who it doesn't work on, either.
I use a simple acronym to help me remember which characters this won't work on:
GAME LURK JODI
Stands for:
Gen Abel M. Bison Elf BLanka RUfus Ryu Ken Juri MakOto Dudley Ibuki
Hmm I have him under the Yes column 'cayse the match up thread I looked at said that it did work but I just checked it out and you're right. Consider it fixed!
Dope acronym btw. If I had to memorize it It'd prolly be a visual thing. Like when I look at the character I'd know but I could not list them off.
