Marvel vs Capcom 3: A Closer Look at "Maximum Wesker" Video

Wesker's Phantom Dance Hyper Combo, also known by the nickname of "Maximum Wesker", seems very random at first glance.  However, it is not as random as you might think.

Gimpyfish put together this short video examining some of this Hyper Combo's characteristics.  Even if you don't play Wesker yourself, you should watch this video so that you can have a better idea of your potential options if you play against one.

On the Scene: Get Roasted at Dragon Lounge

Dragon Lounge: 24th & TaravalSince I moved out to California some five or so years ago, there is one thing that always boggled my mind: why does San Francisco, a major metropolitan city of over 800,000 people, have no real fighting game scene? Sure, around the Bay Area there are plenty such as Starbase Arcade in San Rafael and Keystone II down in San Jose, but in the city proper there is very little going on.

Until now. Enter the Dragon Lounge -- that is, as long as you're over 21!

Arcadia Magazine Top 10 & VF5 Final Showdown Upgrade Details

Oichi over at VersusCity posted up some details on the upcoming upgrade for VF5: Final Showdown from the latest issue of Arcadia Magazine. It sounds like there are going to be some fairly significant changes to the game and overall character balance, with the adjustment to the bound system only allowing one bound per combo instead of two. Right now some characters have combos that take off well over 50% of the opponents health due to how the bound system currently works.

He also mentions something that is purely opinion and not from the magazine, but is something I think we can all agree with. If VF5 Final Showdown doesn't get a console release soon, the franchise will be effectively dead outside of Japan. I agree 100% in that with so many fighting games being released worldwide, if SEGA doesn't step it up and do a serious push for VF, I doubt anyone will care about the series come this time next year.

MvC3: New 1v1 and 2v2 Events Added for Arcade Mode

When you boot up Marvel vs Capcom 3 on your console of choice today, you'll be treated to a little update in the Events Mode section. Events number 18 and 19 were added - without a patch - and they include 1-on-1 and 2-on-2 modes (respectively). For both events, you'll have to do a full arcade run with only one (or two) characters available.

What do you guys think about this? Would you like to see a 1vs1 or 2vs2 versus mode in the future?

Mortal Kombat: Interview with Hans Lo and Erin Piepergerdes by Dr Jackal

Dr Jackal put together a cool little interview with Mortal Kombat 9 producer Hans Lo and associate producer Erin Piepergerdes. The interview covers a number of topics that I'm sure you guys will be interested in, from bringing in tournament-level players to help ensure the game launches as balanced as possible, to a bit of info on the hooks NetherRealm put in place to allow for quick turn-around times on balance adjustments.

It's a pretty good interview, so give it a look when you have a moment to spare.

MvC3: Revenge of the Spencer Glitch by Desk

One of the issues "addressed" in the recent surprise of a patch was supposed to be Haggar and Spencer's DHC glitch that left the opponent stuck in a grounded state. Well, according to Desk's latest video, Capcom apparently missed a few steps because the glitch is back again, just slightly modified. See for yourself below.

GamePro Video Review of Super Street Fighter 4: 3D Edition

GamePro has put together a video review for Super Street Fighter 4: 3D Edition on the new Nintendo 3DS handheld.  You can see the video review for yourself, but I've been seeing lots of positive buzz about this game not only in the press but also among players that I know.  It seems like a pretty faithful conversion.

Rumor for Those Why Buy Used Games: Mortal Kombat's Online Multiplayer May Require "Online Pass" to Play

I guess the "online pass" is becoming less of a trend and is moving ever more toward becoming the standard.  Joystiq has learned from sources that Mortal Kombat may require an "online pass" to play online multiplayer.  If you buy the game new, the box will allegedly contain an "online pass" token that must be redeemed before you can play online multiplayer. If you buy the game used, however, you may have to purchase this pass if you want to do the same.

This has absolutely no effect on those who are buying new copies, so don't worry if you are doing that.  This move is aimed at those who buy used copies.  If you buy the game used and the previous owner has already redeemed the code, you will have to purchase an "online pass" in order to get that online multiplayer.

Marvel vs Capcom 3: Amazing Modok Cube Combos

I had no idea that Modok could work so many Analysis Cubes into a combo!  This video, which borawserboxer put together for Fulaani at SRK, is a real eye opener.  I've played around with Modok quite a bit, but this really opened my eyes to some new possibilities.  Check it out!

Here's what he wrote in the video description for how this is possible:

"It turns out that after an aerial exchange, hitstun decay is reset, you cannot accumulate any more of it until you land, and with Modok's air links and longest-flight-in-the-game that results in CUBES EVERYWHERE!"

Image Showing Every Stage in Mortal Kombat: Impressive!

The more stages that are in a fighting game, the better.  More stages add visual variety to the gameplay and make things more interesting in general.  RyanPleasure has put together a single image that has a thumbnail of every stage in Mortal Kombat, and I was truly shocked!  It is truly impressive to see this many stages in the game.  Some are fan favorites from past games and some are new.  It's a good mix, IMO. Very nice work, NetherRealm! This game just keeps delivering above and beyond my expectations!

Thanks to SRK for the tip on the image and to RyanPleasure for putting it together.
