A ton of previews and a handful of new videos for Marvel vs Capcom 3 surfaced all around the web today, and wanted to give you guys a few quick links to check out. The videos contain a lot of new gameplay, but nothing super high level, but definitely worth checking out as well.
BLG Filipino Champ and Koogy at Brokentier just put the finishing touches on the January 2011 SSF4 Tier List and this might be the last update before we move onto tracking Arcade Edition match-ups. Mr. Murder Face himself posted another update to his blog today, and while short on words, he did upload a cool video between Naruo (Ryu) and Soramiso (Juri). He also mentions Yun is "very nice" because of his vortex after up-kicks and the fact you can end combos with up-kicks.
Also, he mentioned on a previous entry that he would be attending Final Round, and a new trailer was just released confirming that. Check out both the match video and trailer after the break!
Matchup Breakdown: Vega/Claw vs. Rufus by Marcos “El Cubano Loco” Blanco
This matchup frustrated me and many other Claw players probably just as much as Blanka did back in the Vanilla SF4 days. It wasn’t an impossible matchup to overcome, but it definitely was far from an easy ride, especially if the Rufus player knew how to shut down Vega’s offense and prey upon his not so stellar defense.
Thankfully in Super SF4, the matchup went from being a 7-3 nightmare in Rufus’ favor to now…well Rufus still has the edge, but now it is a more manageable 6-4 endeavor since Rufus has a few nerfs whereas Vega has nothing but buffs, namely his mask and claw staying on longer, a bigger hit box on his EX Flying Barcelona Attack (FBA), a buffed Ultra 1 and his extremely useful Ultra 2.
Tokido says Hakan is still the worst but you wouldn't be able to tell after watching this video. Check it out below and find more SSF4: AE videos from Japan on Kim1234's channel.
Andria Sang translated a recent article from Famitsu on a new mode for the upcoming Nintendo 3DS Dead or Alive game. Nothing too earth shattering here -- it's basically a single player tutorial/story mode that will give players a more in depth look at the story behind Dead or Alive. I guess that's cool if you're into fighting game stories!
They also talk about one of the uses for the lower screen on the 3DS for the game. It will display a command list for the character, and each move can be performed by tapping it if needed.
Anyway, a few new images for the game were posted on Famitsu as well, which you can check out below.
Gootecks and Mike Ross are back with another episode of Excellent Adventures and are stumped by a secret message via XBL from VirtixOT who was on the previous episode. Is it fan mail? Hate mail? A prophecy? Who knows? Who cares! Just watch!

They haven't released too many details, though they mention they are teaming up with GameSpot.com to make this all happen. If that's the case this should be a great event.

This week I wanted to get everyone's thoughts on how they approach bad match-ups, whether it be in Super Street Fighter 4, BlazBlue: CS or even Jackie Chan: Fists of Fire. Match-ups are a huge part of pretty much every fighting game known to man, and if you want to be a competitive player -- or at least have some sort of consistency with your play -- knowing match-ups is paramount.
Understanding a match-up can sometimes make up for weaker aspects of your game such as execution or reaction time. Simply knowing what is safe and what is punishable, and to what degree, can make a huge difference in your game.
Now, regardless of which character you main, they are bound to have a bad match-up or two at the very least. So how do you approach the fight when the odds are stacked against you?
Capcom-Unity just posted up that they are planning a "secret event" for Marvel vs Capcom 3 in Las Vegas, NV come this Thursday! Not only that, a brand new build of Marvel vs Capcom 3 will be playable, containing characters that will be announced "shortly".
Looks like we have a lot to look forward to this week when it comes to MVC3 news. Learn more about the "Secret Event" and how to get in by clicking here.
Dae uploaded a handful of videos of Justin Wong playing Yang at Family Fun Arcade, and I think you guys are really going to like these . You'll see he has a number of different setups for Ultra 1 with Yang and as expected, is over all very solid with him. There's also a match of Justin vs Marn, who is playing Yun. Check 'em out below!
Tokido is back with another blog update and uploaded another cool video for everyone to check out. This is more of Nemo playing Yang, and once again shows us how solid Yang can be in the right hands. Tokido thinks Seiei-Enbu is "godlike" and is waiting on players such as Sako -- who apparently is playing Yang now as well -- to find out more about it.
