« Southtown Arcade Ranbat Season 3 is Going to Take You For a Ride: Schedule & Official Game List »
We're back with another ranbat season at Southtown Arcade and what we have planned -- whether you're a competitor or stream monster -- is sure to blow your mind. As many of you know, last season we made a huge push for The King of Fighters XIII and it ended up being one of the most popular Sunday streams in the Fighting Game Community with some saying the support from STA x IPW is a major reason the game is as popular as it is today.

Beyond that, we saw a resurgence of Capcom vs SNK 2 with top players from all over NorCal coming out to support, resulting in some amazing fights and ridiculous commentary. Of course, each week the SSF4: AE & MVC3 tournaments saw consistent numbers with amazing players such as Rom, Crizzle, El Cubano Loco, CurtyPie, Chrisis and many other local heroes coming out to compete.

That said, moving forward we are making quite a few changes for the better based on feedback and simply what we observed from last season. We'll have many more announcements in the near future regarding the 3rd ranbat season at STA -- such as special prizes and mid-season events -- but in the meantime hit the jump to find out what games made the cut, not to mention the numerous improvements to the overall structure of the events.
BACK 2 BACK BEATDOWNS
One of the biggest changes we've made this season is splitting up the days in which we feature games. Last season with so many games on Sunday it was impossible to feature everything on stream and MVC3 was always pushed aside for KOFXIII and SSF4.
We will be now running SSF4: AE Ver. 2012 and UMVC3 on Saturday evenings while The King of Fighters XIII will continue to run on Sunday afternoons. Old People Games will also continue to be run on the last Sunday of every month.
HARDER. BETTER. FASTER. STRONGER.
For the upcoming season due to KOFXIII and SSF4: AE Ver. 2012 now being available on console, we will have more setups which will allow us to run more matches and have quicker tournaments. We love STA just as much as you do but we know some of you want to play your matches ASAP and hit the city!
For the stream you can expect a wider variety of matches at a higher quality due to some changes I've made on the tech side of things. The replays on YouTube will also look much cleaner than they have in the past as well! I'm really excited about what we have planned for the stream so be sure to follow us on Twitter to know when we go live!
Speaking of Twitter, we also urge everyone to spread the word during the broadcasts! Use the hashtag #STA on ranbat days to help promote the biggest and baddest weekly fighting game stream in NorCal!
BACK TO THE HYPE
The return of Marvel vs Capcom 2. That's right, we're bringing back the hype and featuring Marvel vs Capcom 2 on our Old People Games day along side 3s and CvS2. Many of the local players have asked for it and with some recent research from the owners of Southtown and myself, we'll be able to feature NAOMI games such as these on the stream without a hitch!
We're all very excited to feature MVC2 so please come out and support!
GET MONEY GET PAID
Beyond the payouts for each ranbat we have will have some great end-of-season prizes for top placers. We'll have more details on these prizes very soon but just know they will only be available to those who do well through out the entire season. This our way of encouraging the competitive spirit in the community and also giving back to the players who support REAL. HONEST. FIGHTING.
