« Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition Rated by BBFC »

Eurogamer reported this morning that the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) has not only confirmed Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition on consoles over in the UK, but also pegged a general release date. According to the BBFC listing, SSF4: AE is due out June 24 in the UK.

We all knew this is coming, especially considering Korea's ratings board rated it earlier this month, but it's still nice to know that it appears we'll all be getting our hands on a console copy of SSF4: AE soon enough. Whether it'll arrive in DLC format or on disc is still up in the air, though. More info is expected out of Captivate in April.

I've seen the point raised elsewhere that the 24th is a Friday, which is a disc release day in the uk. Xbox live and PSN updates happen on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. A clue to a hard copy of the game maybe?

if its being rated of course it has to be disc. I've never seen an update patch being rated by any site b4.

If it is released on disc that would be a huge mistake the casual player will not pay retail price for a couple of characters.
UBIK i think that is actually wrong im not sure about PSN but XBL doesn't update on a certain day.

If its disc, I'm not buying it. I bought the two prior versions of the game and to me its not worth paying another 40+ bucks for two new characters and two rehashed versions of characters. For those of you that are, enjoy. Id rather use that cash to buy another complete game.

I will be very disappointed if it turns out to be another disk release, but ill probably still buy it. I plan on playing SF 4 for a few more years and quite frankly playing an obsolete version seems like a waste of my time.

I was just thinking about this and realized it could be a rating for a PC version of ssf4 that would make complete sense because if it comes out on disc for the 360 aps3 that would be so stupid.

Every single character is getting tweaked and there is 4, possibly 6 new characters. It will definately be on disc and not DLC especially considering it's being rated...

Judging by what's being hinted at by Ono, with the massive rebalancing they're doing for the console version, not to mention 4-6 new characters, AE is looking to be nearly as big if not bigger an update than Super was.

If that's the case, it would make sense to have a disc release, as much as I absolutely HATE to say it.

I'll wait and see but the changes to AE is definately not as huge as vanilla to super. I'm likely not gonna get it because of the info i know for AE so far. I don't play competitively so i dont need to be updated with the newest stuff.

BBCS to BBCS2 only have 3 additional characters being added but the changes to game machanics as well as character tweeks makes it more appealing for me to spend an extra 40 bucks on a new disc, but i'm hoping thats not the case since ASW did promise a balance patch for CS.

This better be an updated version of AE because as so many of us know supposed AE was meant to be unbalanced. If it isnt an updated version thats more balanced ill just stick to SSFIV because even though no fighting game is perfectly balanced the effort needs to still be put in.

Unbalanced is fine with games like MvC but intentionally doing it for SF is stupid.

The ppl saying "I won't but if it's a disk" are the cheapest, creepiest, morons I've ever heard in my life!

I only plan to pay retail once every three years waaaaaaaaaaaaa!

If it turns out to be a disk release (I hope it is) we can count on a slew of extra over the Arcade counterpart. Probably 6 characters, new stages, new modes etc etc etc.

You guys act like you haven't been playing the BEST fighting game of all time for a year and a half. All for the retail price of $40.00?

You ppl are some weak ass excuses for SF fans. I'll tell you what Capcom..... Charge $100.00 for the disk, I'll still buy it.

I take it no one in this chatroom plays any EA games? How about COD? When's the last time they charged you $40.00 for an updated roster? Oh, never? $60.00 you say? Damn right! SF/Capcom rules.

Btw, I'm no fanboy. MvsC3 blows. But the SF team has given us no reason to doubt them. They've delivered us the EVO main event ppl.

Stfu, open your wallet, support the franchise we all love.

I laughed at the post above this.

@joppula
You not a fanboy? You seem to be a SF fanboy from here (but it is understandable, it is a good game).

They will not be new characters for ae outside of those 4. If they do add 2 more (and thats a long stretch) I hope for karin and Urien.

I will not buy another $40 SF4 at retail. No thanks.

March 29, 2011 | Registered Commenterlordofultima

Vanilla was $60; Super, $40. If it's a disc, it had better be $20 or less.

SSFIV was a great update and well worth the 40 dollars. It not only included a lot of new characters but it also included some nice features. Now that being said if AE is selling for 40 dollars with out nearly as much new content as there was compared to SSFIV to SFIV then its definitely going to seem like a rip off.

My biggest fear however is the character balance as i mentioned in a previous post. If Ono really did intentionally make the game unbalanced im just going to stick with SSFIV. Im trying to play the most complete and balanced version of the game yun, yang fei long fest.

If capcom further balances out the game before it hits shelves ill definitely buy it if not ill wait on a patch but if that doesnt happen ill stick to other fighting games.

Wasn't super supposed to be the last iteration ? Thats what ono said. Don't believe me read this article http://www.joystiq.com/2010/04/09/capcom-super-street-fighter-iv-will-be-the-last-street-fighter/
. If AE does come out itll be a DLC!!!!!!!!!!
