Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 6:53PM ArcadeUFO posted up this clip on their website featuring pro-gamer Ciji "StarSlay3r" Thornton. Most of the clip is focused around the financial aspects of gaming but interestingly enough Street Fighter 4 comes up as a short conversation piece as well.

please dont give starslay3r any more attention
They really need to come up for a new term for these people; pro-gamer is already synonymous with total douche.
Ive never even heard of this girl. I dont mean to be sexist, but.. I dont know any real gamer that plays wii sports or any motion control games. Rockband? Haha.. Ive never even heard that name in the Sf4 community until now. I looked up a 2 matchs of hers. One in vanilla.. Where she wasnt punishing a bison for tons of things and another in Super.. Her playing honda and doing headbutts at full screen. As if they were safe and her opponent not punishing. She ended up winning....
Sorry. Maybe im in the wrong here, but alot of girls in the fighting game community get too much credit imo and in casual gaming also. There are also girls that try to be "one of the guys" and end up trying to hard. Saying "Oh! Yeah! I play that game!", but when it comes time to play. They are as good as my 10 yr old cousin. Lol.
Dont mean to offend anyone. Honest.
her and mike ross break up?
Wait, Kinect is going to be the next big thing? Now, depending on the price point, I can see people who already own a 360 pick up a Kinect, but will anybody who doesn't already own a 360 get one because of Kinect?
The biggest problem with Kinect is not that you look like an idiot spazzing out in front of your TV while playing, but rather that there is no tactile feedback. Without this feedback, players will feel anything but "kinect"-ed to the game, and enjoyment will go down. It seems like a small thing, but we all know how the N64 rumble pack changed game controllers forever such that when Sony's release of the PS3 with the sixaxis rather than the dual shock 3 puzzled everybody (a mistake that has since been remedied). We all know how important the feel of a stick (or pad) is when playing a fighting game (or any other game for that matter). From the very beginning, we know what games feel good to play, and what games don't. With Kinect, one cannot feel the game, which is why Kinect will not be the future of gaming.
Starslay3r is the #1 TOP ALL AROUND FEMALE PRO GAMER. Haters gonna hate
I really don't understand why she gets that much attention... Mike Ross is much prettier then she is.
lol, so much wrong with this, I don't even know where to start...
Oh wait, yes I do... COT DAMN that bitch is ugly... I thought she was bad before, but she but like 4 pounds of make-up on to try and fix it and turned herself into even more of a monster. Oh well, at least she's the worlds best top pro female all around multi-plexi game gamer to ever exist...so she's got that going for her.
@thechain
she's the chick that said she was gonna 'get serious' about sf4 and was training with gootecks or something, lol. she made some super long hilarious post on srk about how she was gonna get good and start placing top 8 in tourneys and immediately got laughed at and made fun of until she dropped off like 2 seconds later, and gootecks dropped her like a bad habit. Then for some unknown reason Mike ross touched her... damn, I got mad respect for that guy but...ah.... nasty looks, annoying personality...I don't know what possible redeeming qualities she could have haha.
@Wowdude
The thing is.. Ive met alot of girls that are gonna "Get serious" about Sf4. Lol. But then they go to the arcade.. Get their asses handed to them.. And never return. Getting your ass handed to you is fine, but you gotta be able to learn from that and accept it.
@Slayer
Maybe shes the top gamer in your community, but not in our community. Choco, AAAKayane, BurnYourBra, Etc. Those are names and thats cause i bet there more japanese female gamers i dont know about.
@Hans
I gotta agree with you. I dont think they are the future. I think all motion games are geared towards casual gaming. I have a wii.. I bought it when it first came out. I havnt touched it since Zelda: twilight princess.. Oh wait.. I hacked it and d/l the japanese version of TvC before the US version was even announced. So in like June? Haha. Seriously. It just sits there and collects dust. I liked the wii.. When it first came out, but after awhile. It lost its novelty. :P
I'm pretty sure slayer was joking. If not, then it's still funny lol.
anyway, I'm not disagreeing with you I was just throwing out some info on where some people know her from cuz you said you hadn't heard of her. Other than that i think she's just some chick off the first ultimate gamer season.
It's a good thing for fighting games to get a little national attention from the mainstream media outlets. Instead of showing crap like "Cheaters" and repeats of "Cops", G4 should get Gootecks and Mike Ross to do their "Cross Counter" show on live tv with an audience.
@thechain
Heck, the wii is better than Kenect because at least you have a controller to hold in your hand. Take a golf game, for example: With the wii (or PS Move) you have a motion control wand in your hand to simulate the grip of the club. You feel the playing of the game. With Kinect, what are you supposed to do--the hold your thumb of your left hand with your right hand thing? The fun dissipates because it feels like awkward pantomime being mimicked by software rather than playing a golf game.Or take DDR for example: Everyone knows you are not actually dancing by stepping on arrows on the mat, but knowing that it is a game about stepping on arrows makes moving about awkwardly fun. Would it be the same if there were no mat and some program just watched you try to dance then gave you a score? Or take Kinectimals--it is a virtual pet, right? What is the point of the "petting" when you cannot feel the fur? This leads into my next point about motion control gaming in general. It will not be the future of gaming because it cannot provide the full fantasy experience of playing video games. Games are fun because you get to do all sorts of stuff in games that you cannot do in real life (like shoot fireballs from your palms). Motion control, however succeeds because it simulates a real life activity. Thus motion control is only appropriate where the activity being simulated in the game has some connection to real life. But if the motion control is too accurate the fun goes away because you will suck at the game if you suck in real life. Taking golf games as an example again, you would think that the more accurate a motion control golf game is to simulating golf, the better it would be, but all this would do is make the game no fun to play unless you are already good at golf. But if you are already good at golf, why are you dicking around at home with the wii rather than outside actually playing golf? You could say that it is training, but it still would not be the same since there is no tactile feedback of the club hitting the ball, and it would probably throw you game off rather than help. You play a golf video game because you can be much better at golf in the game than you are in real life--hence the fantasy. Motion control may be suitable for certain types of games, but it should be seen as a kind of super peripheral--like the DDR dance mat, the lightgun, and the Guitar Hero guitar. It is not the wave of the future, because the types of things that are cool to do in games exceeds the types of things that can be enjoyably simulated with full body motion.
lmao! that girl looks like a troll!
