« New Mortal Kombat Screenshots »

Four new screenshots for Mortal Kombat have arrived. This game is looking gorgeous. I wish there were more than four. Images courtesy of Joystiq.

I will be honest when this game was first announced i felt bad about it. I felt like maybe this is a publisher trying to cash in on the fighting game boom we are in. The only good i saw in it was heck more fighting games being made in the end can't be bad.

That being said seeing Ed Boon, the man whose been with MK highs and lows is on the job makes things better. seeing the slow solid info we are getting makes things better, and yeah these are only screen shots and those can often mean nothing they still look damn good however.

The game may or may not end up being ass, but it seems they are not just writing this in and trying to make a quick buck. Looks like a lot of good work is being put in. I for one am now very interested in this game.

I understand your cynicism because I too shared the same sentiments. But my ill-feelings towards this game changed when I heard about the direction they are taking with the game. Let's face it guys, the MK series, has went down hill since the transition from 2D to 3D and the drastic changes they've made to the core game play. The good news is, they are taking a page from Street Fighter IV series, and reverting back to their roots and improving on it.

Furthermore, from a technical and graphical standpoint, this game blows SF away from the water and it may be competitive contender in the tournament realm. However, as I say before, I am a strong advocate for "good" fighting games that takes advantage of the online with strong network code. I am tired of the shooting scene that is taking dominance in this generation of gaming.

Strong net code and strong over all multiplayer is going to make or break the game. I am hyped for MVC3 but when i heard them talk about bare bones online i could not help but ask why? Why now of days after all you have learned about multiplayer . I really hope the people at the wheel on MK understand that the multiplayer will be the legs that carry this game from being a one month flash to something that could still be played in 10 years.

I am not quiet as hyped on the technical or graphical stand point as you are, and the last trailer with the butt metal was bad, but everything else has me interested in the game. At this point in the games life i think that is the best any developer would want from a future player base.
