RUMOR: Silver Surfer in Marvel vs Capcom 3?

This picture was taken from the Japanese article. Dr. Doom (left) and Super Skrull (right) were previously revealed, but Silver Surfer (middle) has not. Some interesting new details have surfaced about Marvel vs Capcom 3 in a recent Japanese magazine interview with the game's producer, Ryoto Niitsuma.  The article would appear to confirm that the Silver Surfer as one of the game's characters.  It also goes on to give a few other interesting details.  The image and the information comes from SRK poster Denjetsu. Thanks to Sel for pointing this out.

Here are the details Denjetsu supplied about the interview's contents:

    • The article is basically a look at the history of the Fantastic Four and an interview with Ryota Niitsuma, where he discusses the influence of Fantastic Four within marvel vs capcom 3.
    • Niitsuma runs through the playable Fantastic Four cast of Dr. Doom, Super Skrull, and he talks about Silver Surfer, who will be shown off later this month. There are no screenshots of him, just a little portrait thing along with the other two.
    • Nothing new really about Dr.Doom, but Niitsuma said they've added a lot more attacks to Super Skrull since the last public build including several Invisible Woman techniques.
    • Silver Surfer is very quick and has a unique playstyle. he is never standing on the ground. He is always hovering on his board. Niitsuma said that Silver Surfer is more of a character to be played by advanced players. He recommends Dr.Doom to Fantastic Four fans who are new to the vs series.
    • Niitsuma said the Fantastic Four play a major role within the basic plotline of arcade mode, and that the final boss should be familiar to fans of fantastic four.

Keep in mind that this is rumor until confirmed. Anyone care to guess who the final boss could be if this turns out to be true?

Huge fan of the Silver Surfer right here! He would work great in this game!

Also, my guess for the boss?

    Galactus.

He's huge and (being a diety) extremely powerful. Would make an awesome last boss.

Plus, Silver Surfer was a herald of Galactus. Would be a very convenient fit!

But how would Dormammu (probably spelled wrong) fit? Would he be a playable character himself or is he considered to be a Fantastic Four villian? It's been many years since I read the comics...

Galactus. My guess is Galactus. Silver Surfer does indeed make it a good pick.

I've wanted Silver Surfer in a vs. game since MvC1, so this makes my day for sure. Maybe with the board he has some kind of perpetual flight mode or something?

And I'm gonna jump on the "Galactus for boss" bandwagon. With Surfer in there it just makes sense. Perhaps leaving Dormammu as a playable (mid-boss?) character, which would be several kinds of badass.

@furiousrgd doramaru(however u spell it) is a dr strange villan however in marvel all the damn villains and heros fight each other lol I'm hoping dr strange makes it in it though it would make sense since galactus and super skrull are in it and are cosmic characters and then hints at galactus are being thrown around and surfer is his herald

Please Please Please Galactus as boss.

And Dazzler was a herald of Galactus, so I hope we see her too.

Surfur sucks but why do these rumors keep spreading? That's the worst photoshop ever with no link or even mention of the original article. If he has a pic why does nobody even know what mag this is supposed to be? Journalism fail.

Galactus seems like he'd be an awesome choice... but the whole Fate of Two Worlds concept seems a little odd to involve Galactus. maybe it's actually Annihilus, and there's some sort of Negative Zone plot...

It would rock if the last boss was a Divorce Attorney

Moleman is a Fantastic Four villain.... he could be the boss. j/k

    Glad to see Silver Surfer.

Silver Surfer would rule out the most popular roster leak. I mean...THIS would be the proof that that's a 100% fake list. Going by interview snippets that say stuff like "Emma Frost's not in the game" isn't fully understanding how PR men work. But yeah. This gives me a lot more hope for the characters I want to see!!! (Akechi Hidemitsu and Kitty Pryde)

The Silver Surfer "portrait" is actually just photoshopped fanart. This also probably renders all this information as false as well. Politey is right, it's suspicious that Denjetsu never mentioned the Japanese magazine this interview was supposedly in.

yeah NeoChaos is totally right. unless Capcom lifted somebody's fanart for the portrait!
