« Super Street Fighter 4 is "nothing compared to what's coming", says Yoshinori Ono »

Ono-san has publically said he's wanted to make a new Darkstalker for over a year now.Capcom's Yoshinori Ono, the producer behind Street Fighter 4 and Super Street Fighter 4, made an interesting Tweet today.  Here's what he had to say:

Super SF4 on sale!! SuperSF4 is nothing compared to what's coming!!

He's been talking about wanting to make a new game in the Darkstalkers series for over a year now. Personally, a new Darkstalkers would be a dream come true. Between the graphics engine used in Super Street Fighter 4 and the new one being utilized in Marvel vs Capcom 3, you know it will look gorgeous.

He is scheduled to be at EVO next week in Las Vegas (July 9-11). Perhaps he will give more information then, but given that Marvel vs Capcom 3 is also there, we'll see if Capcom wants to take any spotlight off that game just yet.

If it stars those characters nothing they can do will make me like it better than SSF4.

I'll remain cautiously optimistic. Ono-san and Capcom have overhyped things before.

or maybe we're reading it wrong, and he means a big sale is coming.

I'd only like a new Darkstalkers if it was with 2D sprites, but that'll never happen...

2D sprite games don't sell anymore. The masses want 3D rendering or nothing.

I think Darkstalkers could be amazing with Capcom's current engines. Nobody thought Street Fighter would look good in 3D either and it looks outstanding to me. Then again, this could not be Darkstalkers at all for all we know and could be something else entirely. we'll c

@Showtime

Lol yeah it could be something else entirely. They could be remaking Plasma Sword or Power Stone or something. Now THAT would be awesome.

imo, it's- "nobody thought sf would look good in 3d, and then sf4 came and looked...meh." streammonster is right no doubt, but it's a damn shame. sf4 and tvc2 look alright, but not my cup o tea at all as far as graphics. I wish this whole new wave of fighting games would have gone the kof rout- 3d modeling as a reference to paint 2d sprites...absolutely beautiful, fluid 2d. but yes, we all saw how kof12 sold bu comparison. That was due to a lot more than just not having 3G graphics, but it's true that the masses look at 2d as 'old'. Sad that so few people realize graphic styles are just tools..gameplay is what matters. There are good cartoons still done in 2d, why can't we accept 2d in next (ok, current) gen games? : /

Anyone who says that 2d sprites are "old" is a noob and should be ignored. Third Strike is like ten, eleven years old and looks way better than Street Fighter 4. BlazBlue CS and KOF XIII both look amazing and I sure plan on buying both just to make sure that I let my dollar do the talking and show that 2D games are still wanted by fighting game fans.

Listening to the masses is a surefire way to make sure that you, your company and your product will be irrevelant, since the masses tend to be, well IDIOTS who don't know what the hell they're talking about. Look at how many maginally talented actors, athletes, comedians and musicians are millionaires despite being--MARGINALLY TALENTED. Who supports them? Why the masses of course.

But truth be told I've never heard any of the masses complain about a game being done in 2D. That's the bean counters and money grubbing corporate types who keep pushing the hi-tech graphics over game play angle. Look how many people rushed to Google just to play Pac-Man. A well done game in 2D still trumps a sucky game done with 3D HD graphics anytime..

3D this and 3D that--nothing but hype and another way for Hollywood to get you into theaters instead of waiting for the dvd or bootleg to hit the streets.

Capcom All-Stars please.

@ninja bob
so true... now 3d tv's are coming out- just another gimmick with no improvement on actual tv image quality...who gives a shit. But hey- these are companies, so there's no reason to expect them to be in it for anything more than the buck. The suits that pay the bills don't just want their investment paid back, they want proffit, and we all know that either comes from bowing to the masses, or being tallented/creative enough to come up with the next big hit... from an executive's viewpoint, which is easier, haha.

All those marginally tallented but good looking actors, musicians, etc... the fact is, they ARE making money, while in most cases the creative and tallented people have their niche audience of less fickle fans, but the numbers can't compete. Not saying there are NO tallented actors or musicians etc that are mainstream, but it's definitely not as common.

So would i be Super Turbo street fighter 4 or would i be Hyper fighting street fighter 4??? I hope its not a big hype for a darkstalker game imo I could care less about that game honestly

July 3, 2010 | Unregistered Commentercuttyb87

I won't get excited about a DS sequel until it has come out and confirmed to not have stupid nonsense.

July 4, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterFersh

His Twitter makes it seem like he JUST proposed Darkstalkers to his boss, though. Maybe they've been working on it and he just proposed showing it to America? I don't think we're going to see that.

I think it's going to be a crazy Capcom sale bundle.
