Wow! looks like some pretty interesting news out of SDCC then! I am excited to read this news!

July 24, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterDan Hewitt

wait what do they mean online edition??? is it going to be the same game but only playable online or what

July 24, 2010 | Unregistered Commentercuttyb87

how do you think sf vs tk's gameplay will be like?

July 24, 2010 | Unregistered Commenteranonymous

i don't get it. why flood the fighting game market with 2 games, dilute your SF property, quasi-endorse a 3d fighting franchise and compete with your own versus series, when you could've just made a badass new darkstalkers game instead.

July 24, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterkiitoksen

Meh, I hate the two game set up...

July 24, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterSupersonic9

RIP wallet, it was nice knowing you.

I would've liked a new Darkstalkers more, but this is still pretty great news.

July 24, 2010 | Registered CommenterNite

oooo so it will play like street fighter 4 but with tekken characters okay thats cool but since ryu had the sliding kick had wall bounce properties will this game have crumbling levels and should I buy tekken 6 just to get ready or this game or what?

July 24, 2010 | Unregistered Commentercuttyb87

omg Donkey kick FTW hopefully they can put that in SSF4 that was just sooooo sick.

July 24, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterDridion

From what I can see SF X Tekken is basically SIV Tag with the Tekken roster added. I can see them wanting to do something with the SFIV engine but why not Darkstalkers :(

And Tekken X SF?? We are living in crazy times.

July 24, 2010 | Registered CommenterRomeoisburning

I'll just use this time to take back what I've said before about Tekken vs. SF being impossible. The mystery now is how Namco's side of the equation works out.

Third Strike Online Edition (3SO?) makes me happy a little. That title doesn't suggest there'll be any changes to the game aside from the addition of online play + maybe some sort of ranking mechanic, which will please some people (though I wouldn't mind a few tiny tweaks).

Debut Trailer:

July 24, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterSole

so... sf4 with tekken characters added in? That comment about diluting the market seems pretty spot on to me, haha. all this unnecessary crap when sf4 and mvc3 just come out. Ok, so i'm not hiding the fact that I think this whole idea (not even just having 2 games) is terrible, but this is an honest question- not to hate: Does anyone who currently plays sf4 (puts in a lot of time and plays/wants to play competitively) see themselves giving up a share of that time to play SF with tekken characters? Does anyone see it entering the line-up in any majors?

at least the 3S news sounds cool.

July 24, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterso

Please, please balance 3S or it will just be a Ken, Chun, Yun fest.

July 24, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterbradido

I think it will deplete some of the market, but also remember.. This is probably coming out in late 2011 or 2012. Im sure it will give both communities from tekken and SF4 a way to find common ground together. Im sure the capcom version will be easy to pick up for SF4 players and vice versa. Giving both companies new fans. As SF4 players get curious and maybe pick up Tekken? Which otherwise.. They wouldnt have.

July 24, 2010 | Registered CommenterTheChain

I'm gonna go broke with all these new games. Third strike is the one many of us didn't expect. I'd love to see an HD Remix of Third Strike but that has to much animation to redraw.

July 24, 2010 | Registered CommenterKapwan

@the chain
But, I think pretty much anyone that knows about SF knows about Tekken. I know it's too early to say for sure, but from what we've seen and the description, it looks like this really WILL be sf4 with tekken chars. which means it will play absolutely nothing like tekken. If that's the case then, if nothing about the tekken series already got your interest, and you only heard of/became interested in tekken from this game, chances are pretty high the real tekken won't be your thing. This doesn't seem so much a common ground as "let's just put your characaters in our game". If tekken players don't like SF and SF x Tekken plays exactly like SF, why would they be interested. Sure, some of them might play the Tekken x SF game, but if it's the same thing (tekken w/ SF characters) then what's the point... Both sides will still be playing for the same reasons they stuck with their chosen games in the first place- because they like the gameplay, not because of the characters. I really don't think this will change anything...

As for 3S, god no, please do NOT do an HD remix... 3S looks fine as it is, it doesn't need those nasty flash animation looking graphics. Unless of course you can set everything- both backgrounds and character sprites back to original, then whatever. Graphic filters might be a good idea though since TVs are all huge now, haha.

July 24, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterso

what is the background that these two are fighting on? All i recognize is Servbot head and Capcom Square. What's with the robots?

July 24, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterV

Idk about that.. I get what you are saying, but my girlfriend plays Tekken, while i play SF4. Ive been trying to get to her into SF4 for a LONG time. Lol. But when i told her about this today. She was truly interested in the game. I also know a few hardcore 3S fans that stuck with 3S and wouldnt even touch SF4. They started playing Super cause their saw their main in it. Some of them started playing SF4 seriously, while others just left it.. After a game or two. Id sure be more inclined to play a Tekken game.. If i saw M. Bison in it. Lol. Psycho Crusher the shit out of a bald headed man with metal braces. :P I dont think it plays like SF4. It might look like that, but no one is FADC-ing or Focusing and the way the ultra combos come out. It looks different, but idk. .. Also.. Alot of casual SF4 players and Tekken players will jump into the other boat.. Just to see what the commotion is about. Im not saying that Tekken players will start playing it competitively. Im just saying that Capcom will get people interested from both parties. People interested = Money. =]

Alot of namco games are like that. Lol. With robots and whatnot. The.. Story mode? In Tekken.. Where you walk around with the girl. It has robots and whatnot. Looks like that.

July 24, 2010 | Registered CommenterTheChain

It's starting to get annoying how the SF4 kids are bitching about new games. These new fears about "diluting the market" (what are you, an MBA now?) all amount to a concern that people will ditch their beloved SSF4 for something else (read:better). Screw that.

(Pure opinion to follow)

This is the best news out of Capcom since the original trailer for SF4. Third Strike is the best Capcom game to get an online remake by far, and this may be the shot in the arm its community needs to bounce back, hopefully they do a good job on the port.

I'm sad SNK got dissed, but SFxT also looks like it could be a big step forward. Team games are always more interesting than 1v1, and it looks like the game will be a lot less restrictive than SF4. I just hope they have the sense to have an arcade release of the game.

July 24, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterTRobb

Great to see a new game like this but I was wishing for ssf4 on PC. :(

July 24, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterbowLer

thechain- It's possible, but I think that's a tough comparison because sf4 plays much more like 3S than it does tekken... 2D and 3D mechanics are a lot different. I'd like to see how that psycho crusher you'll be doing will work in the namco version, haha. Your GF may be interested, but if she likes tekken because of it' gameplay and doesn't like SF because of it's gameplay then I just dont' see it. There's stuff we didn't see that you pointed out, but this is a pretty short clip...and they did already say it's using sf4's engine right- so chances are it will be pretty similar.

@trobb... um... I'd say we're making a lot more accurate assumptions than you are. We're all kids huh? Kids who have worked in the game/software industry? Little kids who have had experience in product development?
Don't assume that just because you know nothing about something, that others don't too, lol

July 24, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterso

Ok people there will not be another Darkstalkers until 2015. If MvC3 does well and they still be hounded for it then they will think about it. So in truth Darkstalkers will forever be dead unfornately because fighters will die about 2013. Capcom is doing a suicide with this one as Tekken is a much popular franchise then street fighter (there is not doubt about that Tekken makes way more and it is always number 1 on arcade popularity). So in technical sense the Namco version will be more popular, but then this is stupid as well as they bring out a Tekken 6 engine game and very soon after Tekken 7. But in all it looks good so far. Wish they annouced more characters for MvC3 though, but not to worried over SF3rd strike. I have gotten over it, which a lot haven't. But than it be nice to play the game again when dudely, ibuki and makoto(poor makoto) are viable characters again.

And isn't it a 1vs1 game? With the choice using tag mode, a bit like DoA2?

So understand they may never be a Darkstalkers 4 (trust me I am also upset about this). But how come Darkstalkers is so popular but yet it sales were always rubbish outside of japan. And they flooding the industry with fighters that will have only a couple of months of game life.

I just hope that SF5 follows alpha series engine with a lot of features that was added into SF3 like the juggles and target comboes. The parry system may work, if they use melty blood's strict timing on the parries (when need to be able to guard crush oponent).

Thanks for reading this horrible rant.

GGPO for SFIII online.

July 24, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterd3v

I'm ecstatic for the 3S HDR, and a little torn as far as SFxT and TxSF go.

I think SFxT will work out great, as Tekken characters should carry over to the 2D very well, and it'll give us a slower paced VS. game to complement MvC3 (not to mention it's developed by the SF team I'm assuming, and it's not developed by TvC team, so it's a win win).

TxSF on the other hand I'm just gonna wait and see. 3D games seem more suited to pure 1v1 gameplay to me.

SSF4 (new characters included yay!)

NAMCO!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE follow the 2v2 format and give us the Tekken Tag 2 you were supposed to give us like 10 years ago, but now with, you know, SF characters in it.

Good news about 3rd Strike Online Edition - priority must be a perfect as possible port of the arcade title and then add in fun stuff but no rebalancing.
Things I personally would like to see in no particular order:

1. Replay channel ala SSFIV
2. Dan Ranking Mode for online! It's a very popular and fun system over in Japan atm.
3. System Direction - possibly expanded to enable tweaking of characters SA stocks & lengths etc. to sate those who want to nerf certain characters. You can then save those changes and exchange them with others and also play online with them. You should also be able to choose between these Arrange or Original systems when searching online matches. There used to be threads on SRK detailing changes to make in DC 3rd Strike SD to create a SFII system or a VS system, that'd be fun for folks.
4. Full sound options such as slide bars for BGM and SFX.
5. A more robust training mode with the option to share user created set-ups with other people online.
6. Challenge mode ala SSFIV.
7. My YT channel :P

Where's best to make your voice heard as Yoshi Ono mentions? Capcom Unity boards?

July 25, 2010 | Registered CommenterTheShend

Why no rebalancing? It can't hurt to make the bottom tier a little stronger.

July 25, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterRyan McCrea

Excited for 3rd Strike: Online. Hopefully they add a tutorial for the parry system cause I was always terrible at it. Maybe this will cause the game to comeback at EVO?

July 25, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterRandom_Thoughts

no- no rebalancing, no "hdr", none of that. I agree w/ shend, priority should be arcade perfect port and good netcode- hopefully they finally put their confidence in ggpo for a game that matters.

July 25, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterno

rebalancing 3s would make all the og 3s players hella mad. 3s wouldn't be 3s if it was rebalanced, that'd be like 4s?

But it seems like they gave kazuya his mist step to duck under fireballs, so I assume there'll be crouch dashing in sfxt? so stop wining about projectiles!

July 25, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterjonsf

just leaked, the new characters are Robocop, and Alonzo from Training day. Plus new capcom fighter Street Figter x Full House coming out in 2013!

July 25, 2010 | Unregistered Commenteryo

Actually watching this makes me want to start playing Tekken.

July 25, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterCrazyMobius

Third strike didn't really have a tier list imo its was all on players but Chun li will get toned down without a doubt like Akuma did in HD remix
