« Capcom's Seth Killian answers a Ton of Questions About Super Street Fighter 4 »

Capcom's Seth Killian has been doing the rounds on Capcom Unity's "Ask Capcom" Forum over the past few days.  Usually the questions and answers aren't worth reading, but there are a few over the last few days that are worth reading.

Update: Seth just posted a pretty large follow-up to this where he answers a ton of Super SF4 questions. Hit this link to visit his Q & A post on Capcom Unity.

Thanks to IPW reader Valkyrie for pointing these out.

Question:

Why aren't there Third Strike character stages in Super SF4?

Seth Killian:

Although we added character-specific musical themes, SSFIV hasn't gone back to character-specific stages.  Things may go back in that direction, but T. Hawk, Dee Jay, and virtually everyone else don't have their own stage either.  The "Metro City" stage has a nod to Final Fight with the Haggar statue, but if that's enough why not call it the SF3 stage, since Hugo figures even more prominently in the background?

Overall though, message received:  fans want more stages.

Question:

Has Capcom considered doing more events on the East Coast outside of the occasional one in New York?

Seth Killian:

We're still early in the 2010 event planning, but nothing specific to share yet.  We will definitely be out East a few times at least, and we always do *something* fun (so for instance even if we're just on a press tour, we'll invite some community to stop by and check out the games as well, like we did for RE: Darkside, MH, Tatsunoko, etc.  The difficulty remains the same--since we're located out West, the costs for doing an event far away are much, much higher than local stuff, so although we like the events, we're not able to do as much.

We're still looking into some stuff on a more near-term basis, and if we make any moves we'll of course let you know.

Question:

Capcom, are you ever going to release the music that was used in the promotional prologues?* Such as an OST for The Ties That Bind, and the Chun-li anime promotional trailer along with the Ryu/Akuma, Sakura, and C. Viper one?

Seth Killian:

The answer is yes, all of this will be coming out.  I don't yet have the details on when or how (trying to coordinate between Japan and elsewhere), but we'll get it to ya.

Damn, Seth really answered alot there... awesome!

Lol @ -If Juri was a total kick"butt" being a member of SIN and all. Why is Hakan not related to SIN too? If he's an oil wrestler couldn't he be releasing oil at will? And his power from his right eye or something. [That doesn't sound nasty, specially if your an oil wrestler] Are there surprises that we don't know of him or is he another Dan?

@AkaRed35: Still too early to talk about oiling up =P

Haha, funny answer.

It's funny that the way he answers he already knows that we know about him lol. I guess it's nearly impossible to keep a secret nowadays.

And I can see how that Q&A could ruin his day. He answered a TON of questions. wow.

gotta love Seth man, always so cool and a real player of the game too.

You gotta love s-kill man. Dude catches a lot of flak, he and Ono both, and i just dont get it. These guys genuinely love SF and care about the players and the community, but at the end of the day Capcom is a business. They gotta make money or it'll be another decade before we see another SF.

Much respect to Seth for this Q&A.

Capcom has money--they ain't broke. How many versions of Street Fighter 2 did people buy? The Alpha series? The Capcom Versus SNK Series and the Marvel tie-ins? They flooded the market to the point that by the time they got around to actually doing a real update, ie Street Fighter 3, most of the casual audience had moved on. The game needed to stay in the arcades at least a minimum of a year and a half before the console ports were released. Truth be told they should have stopped at Street Fighter 2 Turbo and then moved on to Street Fighter 3.

Capcom also needs to stop letting hacks make bad live-action movies with Street Fighter in the title. Stick to anime or cgi until you can get Ang Lee and Yuen Wo Ping or some other competent Hong Kong film makers to do a live-action Street Fighter movie.

Also, the Marvel series should not have had ANY Street Fighter or any other Capcom characters because there are more than enough characters in Marvel comics to work with in a fighting game. The fact that Roll is in a fighting game and The Human Torch isn't is way beyond lame.

Poor Seth, always getting bullied by these questions. He's a good guy for answering them always. Shadowloo did a great interview with him recently.
