« WORLD GAME CUP FIGHTING GAME TOURNAMENT NOW UNDER WAY »

DAIGO "THE BEAST" UMEHARA

World Game Cup is a massive fighting game tournament in Cannes that is up and running as of yesterday and continues until March 7th! World class players such as Daigo, Fuudo, Desora and Eita have been flown over and are already playing in preparation for the 256-man Street Fighter 4 Tournament.

Beyond the singles tournament, there will be a Street Fighter 4 2v2 Team Tournament and also a "Masters Series" tournament where the winner will be sent to EVO2K10! Qualifiers for the Masters Series Tournament will be held on a daily basis, and apparently Daigo and Fuudo have already qualified so far.

Other games making an appearance in this tournament are: Street Fighter III: Third Strike, Tekken 6, Soul Calibur 4, BlazBlue: CT, Guilty Gear XX:AC and KOF2002UM.

Thanks to active iPW member James "WorstGiefEver" Bardolph from the UK for giving us the heads up on this and also the exclusive picture of Daigo getting ready to tear it up! He and a bunch of other players from London and Ireland are currently on their way over there now to compete so be sure to check out Neo Empire (the UK's premiere fighting game website) where I'm sure they will post updates from this tournament. Best of luck out there guys -- don't forget to send a postcard (or videos)!
