« BlazBlue: Continuum Shift coming this Summer »

Aksys Games has finally announced that BlazBlue: Continuum Shift will be coming to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 this summer.  There is no specific date in the announcement.

Also in the unknown column would be the company's plans for a European release, seeing how some countries just got BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger while others still have not gotten it due to delays.

Here's the portion of the press release which talks about the game and its added features, for the convenience of those who want to know more about this game.

“If you’re not on the hype train this time, you’re missing out on the latest, greatest 2D game from Arc”, exclaims Gail Salamanca, Marketing Director at Aksys Games. “GET HYPE, CHOO CHOO!”

Game Features:

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift inherits all the key features of its predecessor while adding a few twists of its own. Tsubaki, μ-12 and Hazama will join the ranks of the veterans, who will be reborn with additional moves added to their arsenals. With new modes like Beginner Mode and Tutorial Mode, even fighting game beginners can pull off combos like the pros and dive right into the action.

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Key Features:

  • New Modes, including Beginner Mode, Tutorial Mode and Challenge Mode!

Beginner Mode welcomes a wider audience with an easier control scheme; anyone can jump right in and play! Tutorial Mode allows novices and pros to practice everything from the basic mechanics unique to BlazBlue to the most complicated and powerful combos. Challenge Mode offers advanced players a chance to complete character-specific combo goals and missions.

  • Take over Kagutsuchi by creating your own army in Legion Mode!

Defeat the enemy armies positioned at various locations on the map. The ultimate goal is to fill the entire map with your color by defeating all the enemy armies. Recruit enemy soldiers by defeating them!

  • Brand new characters, stages, soundtracks and moves!

Welcome Hazama the mysterious mastermind, Tsubaki the valiant female knight and μ-12 to the world of BlazBlue!

Three-dimensional effects and 2D visuals integrate seamlessly on every one of four completely new stages, accompanied by seven banging new songs written by famed composer Diasuke Ishiwatari specifically for Continuum Shift!

  • Online battling domestically and overseas!

Players can battle others from around the world via Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network. Players can not only search for matches, play games and observe matches online; they can also chat with friends while playing.

Legion mode sounds a LOT like a Koei Warriors game. However much I do enjoy those, I hope that's not what the mode here is. We saw how well (or not so well) it worked for Guilty Gear.

Also: 7 new songs? I can has another CD, then? I know there's not a lot of new songs for a CD to themselves, but figuring how amazing the two that came with CT were, I sure would love these on disc as well. Plus Unlimited Hazama's theme is just too sick to miss out on.

Worth pointing out that CT still HASN'T been released in Europe, it's been delayed several times already with no end in sight.

Funny you should post this. Calamity Trigger just came out in Australia TODAY. As in, went and picked up my release day copy this afternoon. Lol, and check out our box art:

I'm gonna go on a murder spree if they send me my pre-order for CT and then decide to announce a worldwide release of CS in the summer...

The european publishers need to fucking get their act together, it's a bloody joke, first they decide to release in January, which is shit, but not too shit. Then it gets pushed back to early March, which is bollocks, then to the 19th of March, then, on that day it gets pushed back to the 26th of March, then, today, it's gotten pushed back to the 2nd of April, it's a fucking joke. Twats.

Wow. I totally didn't know it wasn't out in Europe yet. Last I heard it was coming out in February, so I just (stupid me) assumed that a game that was finished last July would actually be able to make that date! LOL!!! I fixed the wording of the article, but it is bizarre.
