« WEEKEND TOURNAMENT RESULTS »

Final Round XIII was the major tournament this weekend, with it being one of the largest and most anticipated of the year. This tournament is truly a "southern tradition", with players travelling from all over the country and even the world to showcase their skills.

This year was particularly interesting, with Justin Wong now being a resident of the West Coast, and two of the best Korean Tekken 6 players Knee and Nin in attendance as well. Final Round XIII was also the first major tournament to have Street Fighter 4 and now it is also what many people consider to be the last major tournament for the game with Super Street Fighter 4 right around the corner.

 Of course, I have to show NorCal some love since we had a handful of tournaments this weekend as well. First there was what has become more or less a Friday tradition at Keystone, the 2v2 random teams tournament where you can be paired up with pretty much anyone and also Droms Comics Street Fighter 4 singles which took place in Davis, CA. I've embedded the videos for both NorCal tournaments below so be sure to check those out when you have some time.

You can check out the results below for all these tournaments, and since I'm posting these placings from memory, I'll continue to update and make corrections as more details come through for all these events.  Alternatively, you can keep an eye on the Final Round XIII Results thread on SRK where they should post up the full results of each game sometime this week.

Do you have tournament results for your area? Post them up in the comments so we can see what else is going on in the Fighting Game community all around the world!

Who's the artist that did that Character Select screen?

Can you remove this from your source? It's annoying when I hit escape to close a menu in Chrome and get redirected to the login page.

And by this I mean:

YAHOO.util.Event.addListener(document, "keyup", function (e) { if (!e) { e = event; } if (e.keyCode == 27) { document.location.href = "/login/?returnUrl=%2Fnews%2F2010%2F3%2F14%2Fweekend-tournament-results.html"; } });

Langon,

Nope. It offers an easy way for our members to log in from anywhere without having to scroll to the Login link. Just going to have to click that X button to close a tab.

Man, FR was a ton of fun. The TN crew played hard and I think we earned some respect as a fighting game scene.

I still have a lot of growing and learning to do, but going to FR only served to make me more hungry to continue to grind and level up my game.

Thanks for the update Haunts! I'll say, one of the best parts of IPW is how responsive the admins are to their audience.

damn did justin wong counter pick Balrog I missed it?
He also didnt pick Abel wow I just picked him up and can't put him down

@CuttyB87

Justin lost the first two games using Rufus to Flash who was sent to Loser's Final by PR Balrog. Justin then switched to Balrog and was killing Flash's Viper with mad footsie skills and as we saw at Evo last year he has a solid Boxer.

Looking at all the results from Final Round just shows how crazy good Justin Wong is at fighting games. I think he won like 6 different games and came in second in at least 2 more.
