« Street Fighter 4 for iPhone Available Now for $9.99 »
I never thought this would happen, but apparently the iPhone can do just about anything it seems. Street Fighter 4 is now available for iPhone.
Pick it up for $9.99 and you can throw hadokens anywhere!
Head here for the official trailer for the game. I must admit.. it looks like it preserves a lot more of the game than I would have thought possible for this thing being on a phone.
You can get the game here on the iTunes Store.

If you pick it up, let us know in the comments what you think. We're curious.

Hey,
So first things first, srk fadc ultra, took me 4 tries.
Now here's something interesting, with only 1 punch and 1 kick button, how do you differentiate between jab strong fierce?
It depends on what direction you're holding, I'm going to go in depth with Ryu
Punch
F+P(when next to opponent) = throw (he has no gut buster)
standing P = hp no matter the distance
F+P = hp
B+P = overhead
DF+P = c.hp
d/db+P = c.lp
Jump P = jump mp(only hits once on some opponents)
Kick
standing K from any distance = normal HK, not the upclose 2 hit one
DF+K = sweep
d/db+K = c.mk
Jump K = J.hk
tatsu = hk tatsu
Other notes
- every character has 2 color palettes.
- one button super/ultra/focus
- ex moves are done by doing the motions for fireball/srk/tatsu but using the SP button instead of P or K
- training mode, infinity meter = refill
- HAHA(excuse that) there is only 1 throw, if you throw backwards, it just reverses the forward thrown animation
- damage scaling appears to be less, but not sure yet
- Ryu - srk -> super -> ultra, normally ultra only gets 2 or 3 times(not sure which), but this allows full ultra
- Ryu's super pops the opponent up allowing an ultra to hit afterwards, but the entire ultra doesn't hit, works from midscreen
- df/d/df = srk
- Blanka can combo a super after his ultra in the corner... WWWWTTTFFFFF
- Guile's SF4 df+hk, which does his launch to a Ex flash kick...is F+K in iphone version and it seems you can't do anything after it.
These are just some impressions after playing for 10 minutes without changing any settings, any or all of these are subject to change if settings are changed, but FF13 just came and I'm too lazy to explore more for now.
Wow! Thanks for the info and impressions!! If you have any more impressions, especially how well it plays (or doesn't), let us know!
It is what it is, and that it's just a port. It's hilarious to play and its just fun, nothing to be taken seriously. Would this improve your game in the arcade? definitely not. Can it hurt your game? definitely not
Some more random notes
- Abel Marsilles roll is d,d+k, all special moves are the fierce option.
- You can still manually cancel scissor kick into super(and other moves, blanka etc.), but you can't do it with the one button options.
- Abel c.hp, roll, falling sky is incredibly hard to do.
- Abel c.hp, Cod fadc ultra (pointless i know) can't be done.
- That Blanka ultra -> super doesn't seem to work on Ryu.
- Guile can't do super -> ultra.
- The computer on hardest difficult, Chunli punished my fireballs with ultra everytime.
- In the corner, Ryu, neutral jump tatsu on the way down -> super -> ultra.
Here is my thoughtful list on why certain characters aren't there.
From my take of this game and how moves are done, there aren't certain characters in this game for a reason. My guess is that they took every character, redid their movelist to fit the iPhone and just threw out whoever didn't work to their liking. Imagine doing Raging Demon manually...how?
I can think of at least one reason as to why every character isn't in this game.
Ehonda - Can't think of one
Zangief - No way to do his lariats without special assist.
Sagat - For his EX moves, they overlap input commands, so you wouldn't be able to choose between an EX tiger uppercut and EX tiger knee
Cviper - yeaaaaa
Rufus - dive kick/normal issues
Vega - No way to differentiate between Izuna drop and his slash attacks after going into the air.
Balrog - Possible issues with his ultra/super and being able to change it midway.
El Fuerte - After his run, no way to choose what you want to do with only one punch and kick.
Akuma - Demon flip issues
Gouken - Demon flip issues
Cammy - Can't throw after her barrel roll
Dan - No way to differentiate between his 2 supers (taunt and attack) and no way to taunt period.
Rose - Soul reflect issues
Sakura - Fireball issues
Gen - Stance changes
Fei-Long - With the changes to how ultra animations are, you wouldn't be able to see the end to his.
Seth - Input commands overlap, his shoryuken/teleport
These characters could be added in, but a few of their key special moves would have to be taken out.
i just bought it earlier this morning, and all i have to say is that its....ok, thats all really, i hate the virtual stick thing, i just think this whole idea was pretty stupid, a release for the psp would have made more sense, im currently playing blazblue on the psp and its amazing, if arc can do it, capcom can do it. but honestly its not worth the 10 dollars
I got it today too.. totally not worth the 10$ :\
The graphics are good.
Very fun to play around with. I did Abel's fwd+MK > dash cancel > TT first try. Getting used to direction+button inputs is tough. I am surprised the used a button just for Focus. Why not P+K?
fun to play with if you don't have access to the real thing, and worth the $ but then again i used an itunes gift certificate lol
Having a great time with it...just takes some getting used to the controls but I think they're phenomenal...for a mobile phone game. IF you're expecting the console or arcade you may be disappointed but for a mobile phone game... I'm still in awe that they could do this on the iphone. There's nothing like it in the App Store. Nothing.
Well it's number 5 in the app store so sales must be doing pretty well. It has a 4.5 star rating. I'm sure this'll help out get super hype (not much relative to that preview party haha)
I still would have rather had a third strike hdr!!
I don't have it yet. Based on what i've seen and first impressions, TOTALLY not worth 10 bucks.
And I'm TOTALLY going to buy it anyway! haha. It will give me my SF fix, and something fun to do on the bus ride to and from work every day...10 bucks is really nothing, so even if it's not technically worth 10 bucks- all I can really say is 'meh'.
Ok, now that I have bought it and played it, I can confirm that it wasn't worth the 10 bucks :P it will still be fun in those situations like I was saying- on the bus or bored waiting at the doctors office or something. Controls are way too frustrating to actually get worthwhile play in though, imo
i was pleasantly surprised by the responsiveness of the controls...but then again, having been disappointed in the past by other iPhone titles that promised a 'revolutionary control scheme', I came in with low expectations.
the animation is beautiful, and though it took a little time getting used to what is basically SF with a d-pad, I was pulling off combos pretty effortlessly, without 'special move' assist.
For ten bucks people really think its not worth the money? You all are cheap as fuck!
For what it is, on the iphone, sf4 is extremely impressive.
Extremely fun and the controls are great.
Don't listen to these whiners. For 10 bucks, the cost of what you spent for lunch today, it is incredibly worth it.
You have to think of it relative to what else you can get for the price. I said I didn't think it was worth 10 bucks, but I also said 10 bucks isn't that much money, so it doesn't bother me that much. It's fun, and it's more full than I would have expected, but it's not nearly as playable as some other really fun games on the iphone that cost less. And even more importantly- you will be able to get the full 360/PS3 title for SSF4 for 40 bucks! By comparison, I don't think that makes this worth 10 really, maybe 5. If I could hook a usb controler up to the iphone to play it, or it had some other method to use some more traditional, easier form of control, I'd think it was more than worth it.
The idea of how much something is worth vs how much you consider that amount of money to be are two totally different things. I don't consider 100 bucks much money either, but I wouldn't pay that much for a 360 copy of sf4 even though it's a great game.
I picked this game up yesterday and for what it is worth its decent. It does take some time to get use to the virtual button layout but you can customize the actual placement anywhere you want.
With about 15 minutes of play I am able to perform SRK into FADC ultra. The best and only fighter on the iPhone. I did find it interesting that the ultras all start with videos then they perform the move.
Played it on my bro's iTouch, pretty fun. A lot of Ryu's ultra combos are still there, EX Tatsu into Ultra, SRK > FADC > Ultra, j.P > Ultra...
All I want now is an iTouch.
Totally worth the money. I can't understand how you'd say it wasn't.
It's INCREDIBLY full-featured (Dojo mode is neat. Bluetooth multi, arcade mode of sorts, practice, etc.)
But the thing I love so much about it is that it's (basically) a straight engine port. As in, almost everything that works in SF4, works in this. I picked Chun and thought "I wonder if I can flip kick, c.lk to super."
Lands like a charm.
Every combo you love is in the game and that's reason enough for me.
I love it! Well worth the cash!!
It's great to have a rudimentary version of the game in your pocket!
Yeah it's flawed, but it's fun! It looks and sounds great, and it works too, much has been translated well. Capcom clearly put some effort into this with the Dojo and Versus modes etc, and it pays off.
The virtual stick is a bit of a nightmare, but practice will pay off I think.
SOLD.
I guess I can see it either way, although I wouldn't go too far and say all the combos in the original are in there....there's a whole hell of a lot of stuff you can't do, unless I am just missing how to do a bunch of the moves (and I do know holding a direction affects what moves you get). Still a lot of stuff is missing- and characters like dhalsim are pretty much useless since he really needs all his tools to be effective. But- I realize this isn't 'serious' play, it doesn't really matter just mentioning that, cuz I think it's a little overboard to say all the combos are in, and it's just as full featured. It's lacking a whole lot- but for an iphone port it IS amazing.
Regarding whether the price is worth it... I guess when you compare it to buying lunch or something else you mindlessly spend 10 bucks on and never see again, it's definitely worth it. But you can also pick up a sealed copy of sf4 for 15 bucks or so, and when you look at that and other console game comparisons it doesn't seem worth it to me... It does add something that you can play it wherever you are which you can't with a console game, but... the controls take away a little for me. I guess i've been convinced though- if I think of all the other things I spend that on, it's a pretty good value.
