Readers continue to ask Capcom about re-releasing Street Fighter 3: Third Strike. There are no plans in development right now for such a re-release. However, Capcom knows that this is a popular request. Seeing how well Marvel vs Capcom 2 sold for them, I would not count it out for the future, but not this close to the release of Street Fighter 4. Here are the questions paraphrased and Capcom's responses
Reader asks if Capcom will bring Street Fighter 3: Third Strike to PSN (and XBLA).
Sven:
These things don't happen over night guys and if it were to happen, it would still be a ways off given that there's nothing currently in development along these lines.
That said, we do know that it's been a really popular request. The suggestion box alone and these forums make that really apparent. We'll see what happens.
Reader asks if Capcom would consider making a Street Fighter 3 Anthology game. It would be good for those who are curious about Street Fighter 3 characters and the games that they came from, especially with Street Fighter 4 having characters from those games. It would be also good for those players who do not have internet connections at home or on their console.
Seth:
We're definitely aware of the interest in the SFIII series, which is why we answer questions like this at least once a week
That said, there's no action on this front at the moment, though it's something to consider for the future. We have a bunch of great new fighting games out at the moment--more than we've had in the past 10 years combined, so please be understanding about our reluctance to risk totally flooding the market.

This makes me sad and happy.... I was not into Street Fighter when 3rd strike was out, I never really liked SF, but when i saw SF4 in the arcades and watch some players go at it, a spark happened and i wanted to be a pro.
That said, I missed out on this, I really really want to play 3rd strike, it looks very intense.
Hopefully we DO get a HD re-release, for those who missed out on this experience and for those who just want to feel that experience again... -sigh-

Juat a few Ibuki screens... I think some are new.
First of all, thanks for the top on the screens! We actually found these already on Famitsu but we always appreciate it when people give us tips. Thank you very much.
About Third Strike, I want this to happen badly. I personally think it *will* happen. However, it will be sometime after Super hits. It was OK to release HD Remix months *before* SF4, but releasing any new fighting game near Super is just a bad idea.
Actually, I think BlazBlue: Continuum Shift's release date is cutting it close. BlazBlue fans of course will flock to the game regardless, but they may get more buyers if it was just a bit farther away from Super's release. We'll see.
They should just make 4th Contact already. I mean it wouldn't hurt to have two Street Fighter games out. SSF4 being the non-canon one and 4th Contact continuing the story. Man I really wanna see what Ryu learns after Oro teaches him.
No problem Furious! If i find something, i'd like to share it here.
Yea, it probably WILL happen, but porbably not this year... or if anything really late this year, so that all the attention would be on Super (Which, by ALL means, the attention should be).
I just hope it happens!
I agree with FuriousRGD. As much as I wanted to see this as DLC around the time of SSF4 reading the article made me think otherwise. SF3 is an entirely different game and system. I know a lot of us missed out while it was a main game but those are the breaks. SSF4 is an update heavily based on fan demand. We shouldn't forget that. We expect too much from other things as SSF4 is cutting real close. 2 months flies by. They've built up the hype and they're going to see how the momentum carries through. They ARE listening so once they feel it's ready, it could be there. People kept asking to see Dee Jay and T.Hawk and what'd they do? The went above and beyond and gave us more.
@Were Having two SF games wouldn't be smart. One or both probably wouldn't even be very great either. Too much development that may result in underdevelopment. But hypothetically if it were the case having two games released, fans who don't have time to work with two games could feel obligated to choose which to invest in. If you had pros juggling between two NEW SF games or even favoring one over the other, it wouldn't be right. You wouldn't see the games' full potential among fans and tournament play. You're splitting the fanbase basically.
I though I was signed in? Well my post is above.
I don't understand the disappointment. I'm sure you guys have Ps2's. Go spend the 20 bucks and get the SF anthology collection.
Capcom is not going to flood the market with fighting games. That would be a stupid business move. Money will always come before pleasing fans. It is in the companies' best interest to make money, not to make people happy. Use your brains.
I play on GGPO
i would do horrible things to get 3s on PSN. don't change anything and release it!
I have seen many posts similar to this one on internet but all other have filler content and are not up-to-the mark. This post especially made me to post my comments as its credible, it’s very good!montblanc watch
