« STREET FIGHTER 4 FOR...THE iPHONE? »

This was pointed out by one of our readers, DaFamX, and it made me do a double take and make sure it wasn't April fools yet. It appears this is legit though, according to IGN, Street Fighter 4 is coming to Apple's powerhouse mobile device, the iPhone!

It appears you will use the multi touch function on the left for movement, and there are 4 buttons on the right (Punch, Kick, Special, Super) for attacking. You can also link up two iPhone's via Bluetooth to battle it out with friends!

The IGN article mentions it is coming out in March, and will feature more than just Ryu and Ken, but a wide array of Street Fighter character new and old.

Check out IGN for more screenshots and we'll keep you updated when the game is available!

I would buy it if this version would develop my skills in street fighter IV. This version is not for me.

Even though it'll never happen, I keep laughing at the mental image of a tournament using this version. Have to admit, though, it looks surprisingly good for a game played on a phone.

SF tourny's on the go? Sign me up! (not really...)

flow chart ken? there's an app for that

February 15, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterSpiron

@Vector,

I almost wrote "maybe people at tournaments will use this to warm up before the real matches!" HAH!

@Spiron,

haha... "FADC into Ultra? There's an app for that"

Hmmmm. When you think of iphone gaming it's purely casual and simple. What I do see as SF4 being an iphone game are the bonus stages or even the mini games they specified that didn't make it into the cut of SSF4, "the Guile plane hopping game." Who knows what Capcom is thinking? More likely to broaden the SF audience.

LOL @Spiron @Haunts

I just pictured Luke Wilson with a white gi and red headband.

Lawl.

Nagglepuss,

I think CAPCOM keeping Street Fighter on the mind is always a good thing. I think SF Mini Games would actually be a huge hit on the iphone instead of trying to duplicate the actually fighting mechanics themselves, although I think that could work too possibly. Im just thinking from a casuals perspective, even ppl who arent even into SF might like doing the mini games.

good stuff haunts =0

yeah if anything this keeps the games name out there and fresh people will talk about the oddness of sf on a iphone and some people will connect the dots to super, i'm sure this is what its aimed at doing more then getting people to play the app

This will never work, but I will buy it anyway!

PSP port, please.

Here's a link to a leak of the remaining 4 characters:

Do you guys think its legit?

February 15, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterDridion

I think it's funny that the training mode teaches that hadou is the mid-range poke and shoryu is for jumpers.

Learning them Fundamentals on the go, good stuff.

Dridon,

I am sure that image is just photoshop'd -- not denying or confirming the roster but I think the image itself is fake.

ipod over psp? GOTTA BE KIDDING ME

February 15, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterhmm

Is it too late for it to make it into evo?

February 15, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterhans

Thanks Haunts, I was just wondering cause it did seem a little weird. Can't wait for the character reveal this Thursday though. ;)

February 15, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterDridion

they should just make it into a mini side scrolling game like tekken force or final fight

if this screen from IGN is any indicator - looks like Guile is a confirmed character.

February 15, 2010 | Unregistered Commentergraphic_content

Judging from that Guile screen it may even have a sort of trial mode with a tutorial emphasis. There is indication of the conditions for a win and a time limit so it's basically a mini-game. I definitely agree Haunts that this is more targeted toward the casual audience. But at the same time they may use the actual gameplay for a sort of training ground, enabling to get an understanding of fundamentals and use of specials. In a way creating a segway to the more deeper aspects of the game to be applied in the real game.

I'm excited for the potential Mad Catz Tournament Edition iPhone skin. Priced at a reasonable $149.99.

"Multiplayer? Street Fighter IV allows two players to trade blows over Bluetooth..."
I'll sign up for that tourney! Just make sure your battery is charged 'cause Bluetooth is a killer!

For the bigger events I think it might actually work as a little sideshow attraction esque thing. BYOIPod of course, ITunes card as a prize even? Get apple to sponsor that!

February 16, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterShway

you know i try to be as positive as i can about things but this just looks like garbage, i'm sure it will look good but play like ass. i'm reminded of sfa3 on gba. it looked okay but as soon as you had a chance to try it, it just caused you nothing but pain. i think i will be skipping this one that is unless it was free.
