Quick Look: Known Upcoming Fighting Game Releases in 2010

It's now 2010 and we have a whole new year ahead.  Luckily, there are some new fighting games on the horizon this year to make things more interesting!

    Release Date: 26 January

Tatsunoko vs Capcom was released in Japan many months ago.  There was a time when it was looking as though the game would never make it over here at all, due to the many licensing issues that would have to be resolved.  Luckily, Capcom rolled up its sleeves and got all the deals worked out and hit's coming out in late January!  Not only that, but Capcom has added new characters, new stages, an online mode, and more to the game! Check out our feature: Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars Confirmed Features for the full rundown! System: Nintendo Wii

    Release Date: 10 February (Europe)

This one is strange.  It released in North America mid last year.  It still has not hit Europe, and won't do so yet for another couple of months.  At first there was a statement about European BlazBlue fans being rewarded with the Euro release having new characters, but after this time it appears that the new characters being referred to are Unlimited versions of each character, which don't mean anything because they aren't tourney legal usually.  However, that doesn't diminish the quality of this game! Trust us, Europe, it's worth the wait! System: Playstation 3 and Xbox 360

    Release Date: Spring

So far this is the biggest fighting game release of the year! With between 8 and 10 new characters, new stages, rebalanced characters, new online modes, the return of bonus stages, and much, much more it is a Street Fighter fanboy's dream come true!  Check out our feature: Super Street Fighter 4 Confirmed Features for a rundown on this game's features! System: Playstation 3 and Xbox 360

    Release Date: Spring

A total of 40 characters taken from SNK's most popular franchises, including Metal Slug, King of Fighters, Samurai Shodown, World Heroes, and more, collide in one fighting game! This one features 2-on-2 tag-team battles with the ability to switch team members during matches.  This is going to be released as a downloadable title on Playstation Network and Xbox Live. Hopefully SNK will actually put some good online code in this game.  System: Playstation 3 and Xbox 360

    Release Date: Summer

SNK Playmore is bringing King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match to the Playstation Network and Xbox Live this Summer! This game is *still* one of the top arcade fighting games in Japan.  It features a cast of 66 characters!  Once again, let's hope SNK Playmore can do some adequate online code.  System: Playstation 3 and Xbox 360

Release Date: Unknown (in arcades now)

The follow-up to BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger will certainly hit consoles this year (well, maybe not in Europe. Sorry, it's not up to us!), it's just a matter of when.  The game features new stages, 2 new characters, a reworked game system, rebalanced characters, and beginner controls for those who want to let their kids play every now and again.  Check out our feature: BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Confirmed Features for more info.  System: Playstation 3 and Xbox 360

You can count on us to keep you informed about these and other games!

There are lots of good games coming out it seems. I didn't even know NeoGeo Battle Coliseum existed until I read SNK Playmore's description of upcoming games. I have to try it out. Hope it doesn't suck. Sounds like a Marvel vs Capcom only it's SNK vs SNK.

    From 1up.com

"Arc System Works announced this week that a PSP port for BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, an arcade fighting game already out now for the PS3 and Xbox 360, is in the works. BlazBlue Portable is slated for a February 25 release in Japan for 5040 yen; no US release has been announced."
