« NORCAL REGIONALS RESULTS AND MY OPINION ON LIVE STREAM »

Norcal Regionals is now over.  The matches were epic and it was a great show! Norcal Regionals is going to be even bigger next year thanks to the success of this year's event.

The Live Stream = S-Rank

A big shout-out goes to everybody who was involved in putting together and running the stream for this event.  I know that Haunts poured weeks of time and lots of heart into making this stream something special and it showed.  I'm speaking personally here but I have never seen a better live stream than this one, and I'm not just saying that because it was an IPlayWinner production.  I knew that Haunts and others were working soo hard on this stream for weeks and to see the result simply amazed me.

Just check out the intro for the stream:

The overlays were really clean, easy to read, and looked great:

The cutaways between watching players to watching the matches were fantastic:

And the commentary was very entertaining! (Capcom's Seth Killian on left, Andry "Magus1234" Kane on right)

It was an amazing event filled with truly legendary players.

Here is a quick rundown of the results per game.  I hope those who watched the event enjoyed it as much as I did, and stay tuned to IplayWinner for more coverage of this and other events in the future.

Great stream. Great commentary. Nice job by all. Much appreciated.

The stream was pretty awesome, top notch graphics, cutaways, and commentary for sure (Andry and Seth were bad ass)! Thanks for all of your effort! A few complaints though:

- The greenish overlay at the bottom hid the super meters during SFIV which was pretty annoying... couldn't speculate -- (oh he can do this, or oh he should done that).
- The frame rate was still bad... likely not much you could have done about except ensure that the venue had the necessary upstream... was it streamed over wireless or were you guys wired in? The stream from a few weekends ago where they were in a freezing cold airplane hangar had pretty good framerate... seemed like near 20. Last night seemed like it was only 5-10, which made it tougher to see some sequences.

Otherwise, great work! Keep it up!

I missed the steam not because of time restriction but because my quota of bandwidth for the month just came short and couldn't see it. I'm still pissed I couldn't watch you guys go at it but hopefully we'll have some videos to watch right ?

I want to watch Ricky's take on Rufus :(.

November 23, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterzal

Will there be a chance to watch this sometime this week? I didn't have a chance to tune in at the weekend -.- can't find a copy of the stream anywhere :-/

November 23, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterkaitsobato

great job haunts! you're the greatest, ha ha.

November 23, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterimmastomponchu

The only stream I've seen that was better was the Devastation stream. That shit was practically HD and had 0 stuttering.

November 23, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterStubbs

The stream, and the people surrounding it definitely put the show in the upper A tier list, but i have to reserve S tier for when bandwidth, and televisions allow for lag less HD feed. XD Super good job guys. Easily the best stream so far.

November 23, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterILLMIND

Honestly guys, this was one of the best SF streams I've ever watched. You guys must have had a ton of bandwidth because there was very little lag. Quality production values on the cameras too. The commentary was much better than most as well because usually it's just filled with screaming and swearing. Great job all around to everyone involved in the stream. Please do more events.

Amazing stream, amazing tournament, NorCal is too awesome

November 23, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterJuniorMints

Thanks a lot everyone. We would love to bring you guys more top quality streams. With NCR done the IPW staff will meet and talk about what we've learned and about the future of IPW. The cost of getting and gathering equipment to do these things is not cheap and came out of people's own pockets.

IPW does not currently make profit enough to supply itself with appropriate equipment. We have people on staff that buy their own equipment. We also have a lot of great community members that lend us equipment. Needless to say this IPW Production was a group effort and would not have been possible with the combined effort of the Staff and Community.

As for people who had trouble watching the stream - I don't really know what is up with that. There are others who have stated the stream was flawless on their end. Perhaps your computer or internet connection is not optimum for high quality streaming video?

November 23, 2009 | Registered Commenterthxyoutoo

We were on wireless internet the whole time. lol

November 23, 2009 | Registered Commenterhaunts

Real talk here... what profits do we make, period? It keeps going back to the community and website. I'm not saying we don't want to do it, in fact, we love giving back which is why we're still here.

But this stream was brought to everyone by a staff with very limited resources and time.

November 23, 2009 | Registered CommenterCrackfiend

This event was the most hype I've seen in a long time, the stream was excellent and the intro was the best thing I've experienced, great job on that.
This will go a long way towards the growth of the norcal scene.

November 23, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterOdintu

Is the stream recorded somewhere, so that you can still watch it?

November 23, 2009 | Unregistered Commenterhans

Using the NBA on NBC theme. Freakn genious!!! Definately the best stream for a FG tourney that I've seen so far. Major props to everyone who worked hard on it. Definitely know that it is well appreciated.

November 23, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterTai

OH MY GOD! :andyroddick:

November 23, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterLalala

November 24, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterDridion

Ill post some Eric Lee matches soon -- they were some of the best in the tourney imo.

November 24, 2009 | Registered Commenterhaunts
