« BIZARRE FIGHTING GAME FINDS #2  »

Have you ever had the feeling of "I wish I never had the internet"? I have that feeling almost everyday. The internet has ruined my innocence forever and I will never be the same again.

Oh well.

This week on "Bizarre Fighting Game Finds" we dive into the world of uncomfortable combo videos and Street Fighter 2 hacks that just don't seem quite right.

Enjoy!

                  The King Of....weird combo videos?

Have you ever watched something only to find yourself scratching your head afterward? This video definitely made me pull out a few hairs. The awful editing, the out of place music, and awkward pacing makes for a video that leaves you feeling dirty.

The Ballad of Koryu

If you've ever played a Street Fighter 2 hack named "Koryu" then you know what to expect. If you haven't, I recommend watching the video and tracking down a copy of the ROM ASAP. Imagine SF2 but flipped upside down and thrown into a blender filled with programming bugs and vomit. Set this all to JPOP and you have yourself a pretty bizarre video.

SFJenn

Back in 1996 there was a man (or woman? I really don't know) named Jenn. Jenn wanted to port SF2 to DOS with some sprite swaps from Mortal Kombat thrown into the mix. This is what came of it, a very very very broken port of SF2 with some awkward sprite swaps. Godspeed Jenn, godspeed.

The Japanese certainly play MVC2 different.

When is the last time you saw a team that doesn't include Sentinel? Or Magneto? Would you have ever thought to throw Anakaris into the mix and expect him to kick major ass?

Here we see that the Japanese like to do things a little bit differently with Anakaris using the curse loop to take out a whole team. Very fun to watch!

The Best Combo Video. Ever.

No need to explain this one. Just watch.

If you have any thing bizarre, cooky, crazy, or just plain messed up to show me you can shoot me an email. It may just end up on the front page!

See you all next week!

I wonder if any of the "new moves" Ono has hinted at for SSF4 end up being dragon punches that throw out seven fireballs.

Had the Koryu edition at one of my local arcades. It's actually the rainbow hack, made somewhere in Taiwan.

Great one to end on. How come all of the quotes that come from the same guy has his name misspelled every time?

Wow. Those were weird. I was wondering myself why the guy in the last vid kept mis-spelling Sirlin's name every time except once, and always mis-spelled a different way?

And OMG. I heard about those SF2 hacks when I was a kid. I even had one at a local arcade. But now I appreciate now freaking crazy those hacks were.

These are some of my favorite vids of SF2 hacks.

@jabjabjab

Are you sure that's the same board as rainbow? I know there were a few different versions, but I have several hack boards, and I was gonna say I don't think any of mine do the upercut firebal or sonic booms that don't rotate while moving forward...maybe I just havent' played it in a while. A few of them do have the thing where you can change players mid round, air projectiles/moves, fireballs that have sine wave motions etc. If I remember off the top of my head, the boards I have are 2 dif versions of rainbow, red wave, and black belt (I think?) one of those last two might just be the name given to the rainbow variation, I can't remember.

They're fun to mess around with for like 13 seconds, then you realize shit is just way to crazy, and you want to put the normal board back in, haha.
