« GREAT MOMENTS IN FIGHTING GAME HISTORY #1 »

On this weeks "Great Moments In Fighting Game History":
You've all heard by now that Justin Wong won the last Battlefield Arcadia invational tournament with Fei Long. While Fei Long is universally known as a "Low-Tier" character, Justin really showed some amazing play with him while taking out some of the best players "Empire Arcadia" have to offer. A big thank you goes out to FrameAdvantageDotCom who was nice enough to post some of the matches to youtube.

Kin (BL) vs. Justin Wong (FL)
I hope nobody has forgotten about "Third Strike" and if you have, this video will remind you why you used to love the game. (Hey, I still love it!) It's a stellar collection of the top Japanese players doing absolutely amazing things. It really shows how flexible the Third Strike engine can be. This is some of the best gameplay I have EVER seen. Urien unblockables, crazy Dudley chains, parry magic, mindgames, and long didn't-think-that-was-possible combos. Lets get it on now!
Check back next week for "Great Moments In Fighting Game History" #2!

The 3rd Strike montage only makes me want to see Dudley and Makoto show up in SF4 all the more.
And that back and forth between Ryu and Dudley at 3:39 was just pure awesome.
oh my god!
First of all Wong's FeiLong is really impressive, didn't know 'bout the DP FADC > chicken wing for example, just wow! Akuma got some serious beating there. Guess this pushes Fei's tier ranking a little, huh? ^^
Then the 3rd strike vid... jesus effin' christ... this is truly epic! parry parry parry parry parry UUUUUBER COMBOOOO!!! XD
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy SF4 a lot, but watching 3s makes me wish SF4 was just as smooth. I also miss those super ridiculous set ups in 3s -- you dont see much of that in SF4. lol.
I miss playing 3S badly. I think it controlled better, is much faster paced and has a much deeper mindgame. Plus, as the video shows, it's a MUCH more exciting game to watch.
Casual players had no chance in SF4. lol
@OGHOWIE
Actually, last night I had an experience which is evidence of Capcom's success in bringing in casuals with SF4.
3 of my brothers played it for the first time last night, having not played a SF game since SF2 on SNES. They had an absolute blast! My brothers were quickly throwing out DPs and fireballs, sonic booms, and even Ultras on each other. One of them even said he wanted to go out and buy the game now based on that experience.
Does a casual stand a chance against someone who plays *seriously* like somebody who would actually care enough to look up how to do an infinite like this that can only be used on one character? No. Does SF4 accomplish its task of being a game that casuals can have fun, well, being casuals while competitors can compete? Hell yes, IMO.
Played to perfection, 3S will never be forgotten by the community that made it more than just a game.
i'm wondering, why does everyone hate the volcano stage for the vs gief match?
but yeah, imo 3s is truly a man's game, haha
but sf4 is great for casual/competitive play, it's a great balance
Ooops, I meant casuals have no chance vs very good 3S players. I think SF4 is very casual friendly.
I'll never give up 3rd Strike after watching that!
@knuckleduster
Still playing Makoto? :)
3rd strike 4 life !!!!!
Hey, thanks for featuring my videos! :)
